The upcoming enhanced port of the cult classic shoot’em up Castle of Shikigami 2 is on track to make its December 6 PC release date, but will unfortunately not release on Switch until 2022. The game was initially planned to launch on both Switch and PC in December, but now, only the PC version will make that date.
Initially released in arcades in 2003, Castle of Shikigami 2 slowly built up a dedicated following in subsequent years. By the end of 2004, the game had made its way to GameCube, PlayStation 2, Dreamcast, Xbox, and PC.
Developers Alfa System and Cosmo Machia, along with publisher Deciga Games, have assured fans that the new edition of Castle of Shikigami 2 on Switch and PC will be the same shoot’em up that they fell in love with, but with a variety of new features to keep the game refreshing, such as an updated translation and a “New Entry Mode” meant to provide a new experience to returning players, with rearranged enemies and more.
Following a mysterious castle in the sky, Castle of Shikigami 2 is remembered as a strong shoot’em up by those who played it. Are you one of the lucky few? Are you excited to play the game on Switch? Let us know in the comment section below.
