Capcom will delist DuckTales: Remastered from digital stores this Thursday

DuckTales: Remastered

Ah, licensed video games. Usually a den of shovelware titles best left forgotten to time, every once in a while you can find a diamond in the rough. One shining example was Capcom’s 1989 DuckTales for the Nintendo Entertainment System, masterfully remastered by the developers at WayForward in 2013. Unfortunately, there is one grim fate that awaits even the greatest of licensed games, one that’s just now inching on the McDuck clan. Capcom announced that they will delist DuckTales: Remastered from digital storefronts on August 8.

Capcom-Unity’s Kellen announced the delisting via the publisher’s blog earlier today. Once Thursday passes, you can no longer purchase the game digitally. That is why Capcom is hosting one last farewell sale for the DuckTales remake before it disappears!

DuckTales heading for the final curtain

Ducktales Remastered digital delisting

If you act fast, you can pick up DuckTales: Remastered for up to 75% off, depending on the store. If you’re wondering just how much time you have left, Kellen shared approximate delisting times for the game by store (in Pacific time):

  • PlayStation 3: August 9, 8am
  • Steam: August 8, 5pm
  • Xbox 360 (Xbox One Backward Compatible): August 8, 5pm
  • Wii U eShop: August 9, 5pm

Kellen stresses that these are estimates at best, so if you’ve been meaning to pick up the game, don’t wait until the last minute! The vault doors to Scrooge McDuck’s money bin will only remain open for so long. Worse comes to worst, you can still find physical copies of DuckTales: Remastered in the wild for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U. If you already bought it digitally, you should still be able to download it after the fact.

With Disney’s license likely expiring to blame, I doubt that this gem will ever see the light of day on the Nintendo Switch, which is a real shame. Did you enjoy DuckTales: Remastered? Are you gonna pick it up before it goes the way of Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game? Let us know in the comments!
