You can face Calamity Ganon right away in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but most players take their time to prepare before confronting the monstrous final boss. Conquering the Divine Beasts, fortifying their health and stamina, and forging a devastating arsenal all give players the best possible advantage going into the climactic battle. Reddit user Master_t0rch decided to take this logic to the extreme, piling on every possible advantage so that Calamity Ganon would be scattered to the wind within a handful of seconds.
They uploaded a video of the encounter onto the Breath of the Wild subreddit, but a ton of preparation belied the glorious eleven-second beatdown. Master_t0rch entered the fight with as much firepower as possible, combining the Fierce Deity outfit with a triple attack buff, the Savage Lynel bow’s multi-projectile madness, and, for good measure, a whole bundle of Ancient Arrows.
Once the fight begins, Master_t0rch freezes Calamity Ganon with Stasis, launches himself into the air with a Skew Bounce, and then starts an arrow party in the Scourge of Hyrule Castle’s skull. Within five shots, the beast is done for. You may be wondering, “Hold on, isn’t there supposed to be a second phase?” The answer is yes, but Master_t0rch himself eloquently explained the discrepancy: “I killed his ass too quick for the game to save him.”
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one of the best, deepest games ever, full of interlocking systems that let savvy players do all kinds of crazy things. This emphatic Calamity Ganon take-down is one of the coolest things I’ve seen done in the game, but I expect that players will keep surprising all of us for years to come.
