Burnout Paradise Remastered was announced for Nintendo Switch amid the Nintendo Direct Mini news last month. Now, a page for Burnout Paradise Remastered for Switch has appeared on the EA Poland website indicating a June release date. (Thank you, Donat!) It remains to be seen if this release window will apply globally, but it doesn’t seem like an unreasonable expectation.
The remastered version was previously released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2018, and the original game from Criterion Games was released a decade earlier for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. At a glance, this title has legs. The critical response backs up that notion, as the game was very well reviewed in its original incarnation. Oddly enough, the action-packed racing series has gone largely dormant since then, though Criterion Games has kept busy with Need for Speed and supporting other EA franchises.
The Burnout franchise was notable for its flashy, high-octane crashes, and unlike in a NASCAR race, there’s no guilt involved in admiring the carnage. That’s the beauty of video games, really, enjoying nightmarish violence without repercussions.
Are you hankering for Burnout Paradise Remastered on Switch, or are you just hungry for anything new from Criterion Games? At the least, it’s nice to see EA actually supporting Nintendo in some fashion.
