First born on Indiegogo, Bug Fables is the debut title from developer Moonsprout Games. It’s an RPG that just screams the Paper Mario art style, except it’s all about the adventures of bugs. Moonsprout has now revealed that the game is coming to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 as well. Check out the attractive announcement trailer.
Basically, it seems like anyone on Earth who enjoyed the Paper Mario games will enjoy Bug Fables, because it looks 100 percent like a modern upgrade on the concept. The environments are so darn pretty, and the exploration concepts (like creating ice blocks to cross water) look fun. Sure, it’s always possible this will be just another indie game with a great visual aesthetic and no soul, but that’s not the vibe I’m picking up here.
The trailer gives a blanket 2019 release date, but the Steam version in particular is dated for Sept. 2019. If you don’t want to wait that long, there is already a demo available. So you can try it out for yourself and form your own opinions. In any case, I’m always in favor of more turn-based RPGs on the Switch.
So, all in all, I guess you could say… Bug Fables is looking pretty good on paper! *Extends arms to embrace the tomatoes*
