Breakout: Recharged is out on Switch to relive the ’70s glory days

Breakout is a beautiful idea. It answers the question of, “What if you are so anti-social that the concept of Pong is just too socially demanding of you?” And thus, another human is replaced by a wall of breakable blocks. Now Breakout: Recharged is out on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Atari VCS, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store to let you relive that delightful video game experience of the 1970s with a fresh coat of paint. The Breakout: Recharged launch trailer shows off some of the 50 challenges you can play in this new version of the game, in addition to the traditional arcade mode.

This certainly looks and feels more advanced than the original game, but it’s still familiar enough that your parents (or grandparents for some of you) could figure out what’s going on. And actually, despite my joking about this being an anti-social experience, Breakout: Recharged features local co-op on Switch and its other platforms. But if somehow you’re still on the fence about this game, check out sister site PC Invasion, which definitively declares that this game is “worth it.”

Breakout: Recharged comes from Adamvision Studios and SneakyBox Studios, which are responsible for all Recharged efforts with Atari.
