Today, a slew of 2K games launched for the Nintendo Switch, including BioShock: The Collection, XCOM 2 Collection, and Borderlands: Legendary Collection. Along with that release, videos continue to come out comparing the performance of the games in various ways, including how well they perform in both docked and handheld mode. To that end, YouTube channel Jansn Benchmarks has provided a succinct overview of how Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Borderlands 2, which form Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, look in each mode.
As you can see, in docked mode both games manage to maintain a steady 30 frames per second (FPS) with no difficulty at all. Even in spaces with lots of enemies, and even more weapons firing all over the place, the FPS holds strong and looks great.
Handheld mode is where the frames start to drop here and there. When things get intense on screen, the FPS does drop, but it soon perks back up once you’ve shot a few enemies or have moved off into a new area. Of course this is to be expected of such massive games when it comes to the Switch. Considering these games’ age, it’s a wonder that they look as good as they do at all, to say nothing of handheld mode.
