The dev team behind Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, a beloved indie Metroidvania title from 2019, is promising that the game’s next free DLC will include a brand new playable character from a “well-known partner.” You can read the relevant segment of their announcement below:

Our next update will introduce a new playable character to the game. This is a change from our previously released roadmap.
We can confirm that this new character is NOT from the world of Bloodstained. We have been working closely with a well-known partner to bring their character (and a friend) into the game.

As with previous characters, you will be able to explore the entire map, though certain abilities will need to be acquired before some areas and bosses can be accessed. Along the way you will be able to increase the rank and class of the character’s special ability to grow in power.

The team is unable to provide a release date for the content update at this time, but hopefully, a reveal for the new character comes soon. I’m quite curious about who it could be, and who would fit well in the world of Bloodstained.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night launched on Switch and other platforms over two years ago to fairly strong reception. In our review, we gave the game a 9 out of 10 and praised its deep combat, a massive expanse of areas to explore, and a wonderful art direction, while we had some issues with dated platforming and a predictable story. Overall, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a delight, and we’re happy to see that the dev team is still hard at work on exciting new DLC for the game.
