Pokémon Sword and Shield are out and in gamers’ eager hands. Every owner is battling and trading their pocket monsters until the wee hours of the morning. Even though the titles have been out for only a few days, players noticed a special in-game event. If it’s your birthday, Pokémon Sword and Shield have a message for you.
Birthday well wishes from your electronic friends
Twitter users @Gastari and @MsDaniMendus both discovered the unique occurrence recently:
Ok so Pokémon Sword just wished me happy birthday lol
That's a funny easter egg considering it's not obvious how to tell the game your birth date! pic.twitter.com/pGr3bLBMr4— Gastari (@Gastari_) November 16, 2019
Making sure @Gameonysus sees this for wiki inclusion. If you set your birthday with the lady in the first town, when you enter a Pokémon center for the first time on that day they give you a little birthday dialogue pic.twitter.com/qr4pbthLN4

How cute! Cake and confetti?! That is more than I expected. I’m feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.
It looks like confirming your birthday early on with a female NPC sets up this mini celebration at a Pokémon Center. As far as anyone knows, no items or discounts are given to the player on their special day. Still, it’s nice to have it acknowledged at all. It is not as cool as Quiet’s birthday message from MGSV, though.
Poké-enthusiasts, do you enjoy the fact Pokémon Sword and Shield celebrate birthdays? Have any of you received the warm greetings already? Has anyone lied and input a recent date to cheat the system? Let us know the answers to each of these burning questions below.
