Banjo-Kazooie: Worlds Collide N64 fan-made Banjo-Kazooie

Banjo-Kazooie is one of Rare’s most beloved franchises. The popular N64 series received a successor on Xbox 360, but it wasn’t quite what fans were hoping for. In the absence of any further releases, fans have taken to creating their own Banjo experiences. Banjo-Kazooie: Worlds Collide is a perfect example! This fan-made mod takes elements from the first two games and remixes them together for a whole new adventure. Best of all, you can even play it on an actual Nintendo 64 console! You can check out a trailer by clicking below.

A fan-made game you can play on N64

This playable homage was created by modder Bynine B and released a few weeks ago. It features nine new levels, though they’ll feel quite familiar. Each level is a mash-up of two previously existing levels. Rich Ruin Cove combines elements of Banjo-Tooie’s Mayahem Temple and Banjo-Kazooie’s Treasure Trove Cove. The music, too, takes inspiration from the canon material. The gameplay, however, is less of a collectathon than you’d expect. Worlds Collide has fewer collectibles and focuses instead on delivering harder challenges. You’ll have to earn those collectibles by tackling difficult platforming sections.

If you’d like to try out Banjo-Kazooie: Worlds Collide for yourself, you can find instructions here. It’s available as a simple ROM patch on PC, or with the right equipment, you can play it on an actual N64 for maximum nostalgia.
