Hot on the heels of tonight’s reveal of Sephiroth as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate‘s next DLC fighter, Nintendo has announced the release date for the next wave of amiibo. Starting March 26th, 2021, fans will be able to purchase these figures, which include ones for Banjo and Kazooie, Terry Bogard, and Byleth.

It’s worth mentioning that for some reason, only male Byleth is getting an amiibo. This isn’t an unprecedented move, as previously, Fire Emblem Awakening‘s player character Robin also released with no female version. However, Nintendo has been inconsistent on this front as Fire Emblem Fates protagonist Corrin did receive both a male and a female version. I’m sure that somewhere, there exists a reason for not producing a female Byleth amiibo, but I couldn’t tell you what it is. All I know is that I’m severely disappointed as a result.
With this upcoming wave of figures, Nintendo will be officially closing the book on Fighters Pass 1, as Byleth was the last character included in that set. Thankfully, with the continued addition of characters in Fighters Pass 2, we should be seeing more Super Smash Bros. amiibo coming at some point, including one for Min Min, Steve, and Sephiroth, along the remaining unrevealed characters.
