Bandai Namco ditches old logo for a more simplistic design

new Bandai Namco logo

Bandai Namco is an iconic giant in the games industry, being responsible for many beloved franchises. Before the merge in 2005, Namco was obviously well-known for Pac-Man, a revolutionary game that dominated arcades for years. Bandai, on the other hand, is most recognized for its work in the toys industry. The Bandai Namco company has been using an orange, red, and yellow logo for quite some time, which according to a recent statement “expresses the fusion of Bandai and Namco that was created when the two companies integrated.” However, Bandai Namco has decided to change to a new logo design, which it will start using in April 2022 as part of its next “mid-term plan.”

The new Bandai Namco logo design is quite simplistic, with white text on orange making the change to black text on white. There is a bright pink speech bubble-like border surrounding the text, so it will probably take some getting used to. In its statement regarding this change, the company said, “The new logo’s speech bubble motif, ‘Fukidashi’ in Japanese, expresses the potential of the brand to connect with people around the world and inspire them with amazing ideas.” Furthermore, it also believes that the change to the new Bandai Namco logo “stands for our determination to communicate with fans worldwide.”

The full statement delves further into why Bandai Namco has chosen this new logo, as well as its “purpose” for next year. What do you think about this change in style?
