Baldo gets 13 minutes of gameplay showing off Zelda-meets-Ghibli play

Baldo 13 minutes gameplay video Naps Team Nintendo Switch coming soon 2021 release date Zelda Studio Ghibli visuals

Developer Naps Team has debuted 13 minutes of new gameplay of Baldo, its action adventure RPG that aims to combine The Legend of Zelda with Studio Ghibli-style visuals. The game has been in development for years, and an Indie World Showcase from March 2020 noted that Baldo would be a timed Nintendo Switch console exclusive. However, back then the game was supposed to release in summer 2020, and obviously that did not happen for various reasons. Now, the game is simply “coming soon” to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

At a glance, the Baldo gameplay seems to be very Zelda-ish, with an effort to apply Ghibli-ish visuals on top. That’s just the long and short of it. Of course, that’s not a bad thing. The game will be “full of puzzles and intricate dungeons to solve” in an open world.

If this Baldo gameplay video isn’t enough for you and you crave even more Studio Ghibli-inspired games, then be sure to check out the breathtaking puzzle platformer Hoa. (Unfortunately, Hoa was delayed to July, but it will receive a physical edition.) Plus, it sure seems like Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom may make its way to Nintendo Switch, despite Level-5 shuttering its North American operations.
