Arkham Horror: Mother’s Embrace brings Lovecraftian tactical RPG combat to Switch in 2021

Arkham Horror: Mother's Embrace

Arkham Horror: Mother’s Embrace is coming to Switch in 2021. Based on a popular, award-winning board game franchise, the game comes from Asmodee Digital and Artefacts Studio and promises to deliver a “squad-based narrative adventure game offering a mix of exploration, investigation and tactical RPG combat phases set in the Lovecraftian universe.” That’s a pretty promising pitch, even if the Switch is rolling in Lovecraft indie games.

Set in the year 1926, Arkham Horror: Mother’s Embrace opens with a professor of astronomy who was found dead in her mansion under mysterious circumstances. The player is tasked with unraveling the mystery of the professor’s death after they select one of twelve protagonists from within the board game series’ universe. Each character comes with their own tactical strengths and weaknesses, a feature that may lend itself to multiple playthroughs down the line if the game is especially good.

Are you interested in picking up Arkham Horror: Mother’s Embrace when it releases worldwide on Switch in 2021? Why or why not? Do you have any experience with the board games, and if so, do you think that the board games’ universe is fitting for the tactical sort of game that Asmodee Digital is trying to put together? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
