Are you grabbing the Nintendo Switch Online expansion?

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack price

Nintendo Switch Online finally has Nintendo 64 and Genesis games thanks to tonight’s launch of the platform’s optional expansion package. For $50 a year, players can gain access to a variety of extra features: Nintendo 64 games, Sega Genesis games, and subscription access to an upcoming Animal Crossing: New Horizons paid DLC. Similar to the NES and SNES games included with the basic $20 plan, additional games will be added to the service sporadically. As is, though, it launches with a nice array of games, including Nintendo 64 classics like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Star Fox 64, along with lesser known titles like Sin & Punishment and Winback. Based on what is available right now, how do you feel about the Nintendo Switch Online expansion? Are you picking it up?

Personally, I intend to get the expansion eventually if the other members of my family plan are up for it (a family plan is $80 split between up to eight members). I love Nintendo 64 games too much to pass up portable access to games like Yoshi’s StoryStar Fox 64, and, eventually, Banjo-Kazooie. At the moment, though, I am not in any rush to upgrade. I’d like to get a feel for what the service’s content updates will look like, for starters. If the offerings are as sparse and underwhelming as what we are currently seeing for NES and SNES titles, I’ll need to pass.
