Via Gematsu, publisher Wired Productions and developer Nosebleed Interactive have announced Arcade Paradise, a ’90s “retro arcade adventure” about transforming a laundromat into an arcade in the “sleepy town of Grindstone.” The name of the game (figuratively) is to create excitement in town and run a financially successful business. There will be some sort of story involving protagonist Ashley and Ashley’s father, who will call to offer advice and remind Ashley to fix the toilet.
Notably, Arcade Paradise will feature over 35 original arcade games, ranging from vector graphics titles to 32-bit efforts, and they are all playable with their “own gameplay, stories, missions, and high scores to set.” Where applicable, these games will be playable competitively and cooperatively for upward of four players. The Arcade Paradise trailer teases some of the games you’ll get to play, and as is my nature, I’m pretty excited by the Bomberman knockoff. Both the sights of the arcade and the soundtrack of the game will reflect the ’90s, and there’s a jukebox where you can cycle among songs when you’re not playing games yourself.
Arcade Paradise will launch on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC later in 2021. Let us know if you’re as intrigued as we are.
