Apex Legends: Champion Edition listed for Switch at Amazon Japan for February release

Apex Legends Switch release

We’ve been waiting a good while to see when Apex Legends will release on Nintendo Switch, following last year’s delay. A week ago we got a clearer idea of when it could drop, as trailer video descriptions in certain regions seemingly leaked the date. Now, that same date holds up with a new listing that also confirms a retail version is coming. Amazon Japan has listed Apex Legends: Champion Edition for the same previously seen Feb. 2 launch date.

This retail version of the game seems to be a full $60 going off the Japanese price of 5641 yen, so expect it to come with quite a few extras. The included info reveals nothing on the actual nature of the bundle, but with launch evidently so close, it should be revealed soon.

Apex Legends is a free-to-play battle royale by the shooter experts at Respawn Entertainment, which developed the Titanfall series. A Switch version of Apex Legends has been in the works for some time, as it was initially revealed last summer. We’re curious to see how it will run on Nintendo’s hybrid console, although it seems the team is taking the time to get it right.

So the remaining question is — when will it actually be revealed? We’re exactly a week out from the expected launch, so there’s a chance Nintendo could shadow drop a random Direct Partner Showcase at any moment. Either that or EA is almost ready to spill the beans on Apex Legends as its latest Switch release.
