Yesterday, Apex Legends developer Respawn Entertainment revealed Season 8 content for its online battle royale shooter. The game is still due to launch on Nintendo Switch sometime soon, and the video description for the Apex Legends season 8 trailer in various different-language versions of YouTube may have briefly leaked the Switch launch date. For a short period of time, different versions of the video description, such as for Japan, stated Apex Legends will launch on Switch on Feb. 2.
The English upload didn’t include this info, but the fact that multiple other regions did is raising eyebrows. The descriptions have since been edited, and there’s now no mention of Apex on Switch.
BREAKING: The Japanese version on YouTube states Apex Legends is coming to Switch on February 2.

The date certainly seems plausible though and may have been revealed a little early. Apex Legends was originally set to launch for Switch late last year but was delayed out of 2020 to an unspecified date. Season 7 dropped around when the Switch version was expected, so a push to the game’s next season would make sense. If so, we should hear of its release date in the coming days.
In the meantime, Fortnite is the game’s main competition on Switch, if you’re itching to play some battle royale. When Apex makes its way over, it’ll provide Fortnite with a bit of competition on the platform (though there are also options like Spellbreak). Fortnite initially launched on Switch over two years ago.
