With all of its customization options, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is basically a blank canvas for so many creative village heads out there. The Nooksters on YouTube are one such example – their use of villagers to recreate a classic Pokémon battle is one of the coolest things I’ve yet seen in the game. Check out two videos below, where the pair meticulously utilized outfits, tile designs, and even animal villagers to simulate classic Pokémon moments. In the first video, players dressed up as Ash and Gary use Pate and Drizzy to sub for Squirtle and Charmander, respectively, in a vicious first-gen duel of growls and tackles. In the second video, the opening moments of a Pokémon game are recreated with a special flair to incorporate Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Everything about the production is extremely well done, so be sure to give each vid a watch below.
How awesome are those? Turns out Pokémon meshes perfectly with Animal Crossing: New Horizons, though that should come as no surprise given what we’ve already seen people to be capable of with the game. Creative players have used Animal Crossing: New Horizons to throw birthday parties, recreate The Legend of Zelda dungeons, and even Rick Roll innocent scrollers.
