Animal Crossing character cutouts used as NFL crowd Detroit Lions

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has affected people more than we ever imagined in the midst of a global pandemic. It’s spawned talk shows, broken series sales records, and provided countless hours of entertainment in a very tough time. However, when sports leagues began starting up again after the pandemic hit, teams got creative. We didn’t expect to see crowds made up of Animal Crossing character cutouts during an NFL game though.

As spotted on social media, the Detroit Lions NFL team recruited some… different cutouts to replace fans in the stadium. Animal Crossing character cutouts were used as replacement fans, and honestly, we’re here for it. If teams want to continue this in the future, how about finding a way to allow fans to have their own customized character attend? If that came to be, we’d like to see this continue beyond any sort of pandemic.

Elsewhere in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, we’re deep into the autumn season. Just yesterday, we reported on a new trailer that reminds us of the fall content in New Horizons that follows the recent Halloween party. The trailer appeared as a TV ad in some regions too, as Nintendo continues to market the game.

The winter update is also around the corner, dropping later this month. We’d love to be able to dress our character in festive gear for the next big NFL game, if anyone’s offering.
