Perhaps surprising no one, Nintendo announced during today’s Nintendo Direct that their hit game Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is getting an expansion pass on May 28th. This pass will grant access to two DLC packs slated to launch this year (alongside a purchase bonus), and is available for pre-order now for $19.99. It is unknown at this time whether these packs will be available for individual purchase.
While we don’t know specific details about what these packs contain, we were given an outline of what to expect. Wave 1 of the Age of Calamity DLC is slated for launch in June 2021, and will contain an expanded roster, new weapon types, new challenges in the Royal Ancient Lab, and new challenging enemies. Wave 2 is currently scheduled for a November 2021 release, and will provide further roster expansion, new stages, new character vignettes, and new battle skills for the existing characters. As a bonus for purchasing the pass, you’ll be able to access a new weapon and a new costume for Link starting May 28th.
As someone who has 100% completed the game, I’m incredibly excited to see how the Age of Calamity Expansion Pass will add to the game. Will these somehow tie into the story, or will they simply just be extra challenges to test players? How many new characters are we getting, and who are they? I imagine we’ll know soon enough, but for now, I’m content just imagining the possibilities.
