2021 best family / party game of the year winner: Mario Party Superstars

It’s fitting that Mario Party Superstars has won the the best / family party game of the year in 2021, since party is right there in the name. However, for many years now, Mario Party has struggled to live up to the expectations of fans, as more recent games seemed to forget what made Mario Party special in the first place.

That being said, Mario Party Superstars is a fantastic return to form, offering a fun multiplayer experience for fans both new and old. Being able to revisit iconic boards from the original Nintendo 64 versions is a real treat, allowing you to walk down memory lane while also potentially ruining your friendships along the way.

Obviously, it wouldn’t be a Mario Party game without the variety of mini-games available to play, and Mario Party Superstars features some of the series’s best. Essentially, Mario Party Superstars is what Mario Party: The Top 100 should’ve been on Nintendo 3DS, providing players with some excellent mini-games to compete in. But the boards themselves are fun too, providing a great experience on large and small scales.

Overall, Mario Party Superstars is an excellent game for the whole family, and we can highly recommend it during Christmas. If you’re a fan of Mario Party but have been disappointed by the past few games, Mario Party Superstars might be the game that you need to reignite your passion for the series.
