13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim gameplay trailer reveals start of Switch preorder

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim gameplay trailer Calamities preorder Nintendo Switch period begins start Atlus Vanillaware

Publisher Atlus and developer Vanillaware have revealed a new “Calamities” gameplay trailer for 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, in addition to announcing that you can now preorder the Nintendo Switch version of the game ahead of its April 12, 2022 release date. If you preorder the physical standard version of 13 Sentinels on Switch at Amazon, GameStop, or Best Buy, you will get awesome bonus art cards (pictured above). Meanwhile, the digital standard edition is available to preorder on the Switch eShop, but it doesn’t include any extra bells or whistles.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim originally launched exclusively on PlayStation 4 in 2020 in North America, and suffice to say — it ruled. The game is half science fiction visual novel, half real-time strategy game with giant robots battling back a kaiju invasion. The narrative follows 13 different characters, many of whom live in different time periods and seem not to be related. But as the twisting, turning plot unravels, you see how it all comes together, and it’s pretty fantastic. Granted, it still dips into typical anime melodrama and silliness in a couple spots, but that doesn’t detract from its being an extremely unique and memorable game experience.

If you don’t usually play visual novels and/or real-time strategy games, but you do appreciate a great story, then I would genuinely recommend you check out — if not outright preorder — 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim on Nintendo Switch.
